Sparkling Spring

Program Note:

With the arrival of spring comes a bright and lively energy as green emerges from the bleak of winter. Budding leaves, chirping birds, and blooming flowers herald the return of life to the earth and move our spirits to dance. This work offers players opportunities to explore simple meter changes, tremolo, modal melodies, and harmonic seconds.

Sparkling Spring was written for and is dedicated to Mrs. Nancy Petrucelli and the Auten Road Intermediate School Advanced Orchestra. Were it not for Mrs. Petrucelli’s instruction in my beginning violin and viola studies, I would not be the musician I am today; for that, I am truly grateful.
